This thought has certainly crossed my mind. This was highly likely an "it takes two to tango" situation. Owusu didn't seem to have the problems she had here up at Penn State. Shame it didn't work out as we could have won the natty....

If u listened to PSU coaches pre season, they threw shade at Kenny for basically not letting Owusu do whatever she wanted in the court. Saying she needed to play free, and thats not Kenny’s style at all. At times Amoore gets outta hand but even then she knows how to reel it back in and play Kennys offense.

Always important to remember that these kids are - well - kids. Most trying to become grown arse adults, figure themselves out as humans, go to school, play ball, learn and manage this new day of college athletics, all whilst in the midst of public glare. Most are not prepared or well suited to manage all of that. That’s frankly what made Liz and Georgia stand out so much.

I think the problem was that there wasn’t room for both Amoore and Owusu (and Liz to a degree). Owusu is a volume scorer and creator, which is also what Amoore is. Owusu was the star player for Penn St, so she was able to thrive on that roster.

That said, I’m not a huge fan of how he trims the roster mid season. There were times we needed Suffren last season.

Seems quite possible that we are waiting to see if Raterman is getting the gig at Marquette with the idea that she would come to VT otherwise. Just speculation, but seems to make sense unless I am missing something.
